Feeling unsure is not the same as being unprepared.<\/strong> That distinction matters in career growth because capable people often interpret nervousness as evidence that they do not belong in the room. In reality, confidence frequently arrives after we have collected evidence through the work itself.<\/p>\n

Preparation matters. Humility matters. Asking for help matters. But waiting to feel completely certain before contributing can become its own hiding place. Growth usually asks us to move while some uncertainty is still present.<\/p>\n

You do not have to feel ready to be useful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Impostor syndrome can turn uncertainty into the wrong conclusion<\/h2>\n

Impostor syndrome has a persuasive way of translating ordinary discomfort into a verdict: \u201cI am nervous, therefore I must not be qualified.\u201d That equation is not reliable. New responsibility is supposed to feel new. A stretch assignment is supposed to ask something different of us.<\/p>\n

The better question is not, \u201cDo I feel completely confident?\u201d It is, \u201cHave I prepared enough to take the next responsible step?\u201d Those are very different standards.<\/p>\n

Readiness is more than a feeling<\/h2>\n

Readiness can look like understanding the goal, knowing the information available to you, being aware of your limits, asking thoughtful questions, and being willing to learn from what happens next. None of those require fear to disappear first.<\/p>\n
